RE: Are you changing your RV life because of the cost of gas?

Planned our summer trip in February and reservations have been made. Meeting family in Colorado.
We will try to eat out less and plan to drive no more than 59 mph. and we are taking the back "red highways."
If not meeting relatives in the north part of Colorado, I am sure that we would have just camped in SW Colorado.
I am also going back to cutting coupons for use when grocery shopping.
We also belong to a couples bass fishing club and we have monthly tournaments. That hurts the pocketbook more than camping in the van.

Thanks, Rodger--same to you and all of the other B's
We are flying to Michigan tomorrow morning (Just for the weekend) and will see the fireworks while on my brother-in-law's boat. Can't wait to feel some cooler weather!

RE: Trip to Colorado

When we travel that way we often take Highway 69. Very little traffic. We enjoy that route.

RE: Good Sam Portal

If I have trouble using rv.net I can usually log on by using Trailer Life.
Sometimes I can't get on at all but I just wait about five or ten minutes and then all is well.

RE: Leadville to Estes Park ?

d3500ram
I have a question for you:
We are traveling that route in early August but reversing the OP's route. Leaving Ward and driving to Salida. My plan was to take Highway 91 at Wheeler Junction into Leadville.
We will be in a camper van, not pulling anything. Anyting wrong with 91?
Thanks!

RE: Sedona Arizona to Gunnison, CO

This is more miles but less driving in the mountains:
IH-40 east to IH-25 North to Santa Fe. Then take Highway 285 north to Saguache, co. Then take Highway 114 west to Highway 50 west and a short ride to Gunnison.
You could also take RRUGG's route as written above but when you get to Durango, take 160 east to 285 and then 114. I believe that Wolf Creek Pass is the only pass you will have to travel over but the roads are good.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Richard and Sue,
So sorry to read of Old Fella's passing. Prayers sent for you.
To all of the other posters: Thanks for sharing your poems, prose and stories yesterday and today. Most of us have known and feel the loss of a pet and we have tears for Old Fella and all of our furry friends who are waiting over the bridge. Your words today have given me added comfort as I know they will also give comfort to Richard and Sue.
I, too, have never loved a pet that I have never met such as Fella. His story will last forever.

RE: Good Sam Club ERS Auto Renewal w/o Noticel!!!

We also received a notice in the mail about our renewal coming up and email, too.
I also keep a list of automatic renewals with my bills.
I disagree with the person who wrote that their whole business is directed toward people who they can slide things past.

RE: Road Service Response Time

Have needed Good Sam for three years in a row.
First was for son's car when it broke down. Wait was about 45 minutes and received a couple of phone calls from them checking to make sure we were okay.
Second was when we locked ourselves out of the van in a remote area of the UP of Michigan. Only had to wait 45 minutes for that one.
Third was when we locked ourselves out AGAIN while camping on a lakeshore campsite the weekend of a bass fishing tournament. Wait was about an hour and we fished right in the area in front of the van while we waited.

RE: I-55/I-57 Questions

The last time we drove on I-10 was from Pasadena to near Harper (Highway 290). UT had beaten Michigan in the last few seconds of the 2005 Rose Bowl.
We floated home through California, Arizona, New Mexico and West Texas. It was a beautiful drive!

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

I was talking to Smudge last night and I told him (again) about Old Fella. If it hadn't been for OF, Sue and Richard, I never would have checked PetFinder.com and would have missed seeing the face of Smudge.
Life is a chain of love.
So thanks again.

RE: I-55/I-57 Questions

Hmmmm, not sure where your final destination in Wisconsin will be.
Instead of taking I-57, I might want to stay on I-55 and then take I-39 up north. Beats going through Chicago-land.
We drove from Texas up to the Wisconsin and the Western UP of Michigan a couple of years ago. We traveled up I-35 to I-75 and then through Oklahoma. Then I-69 to I-44 (toll road) and then took Highway 71 north through western Missouri and got on I-35 again which eventually took us to Minnesota. We then traveled east on Highway 77 in Wisconsin. It was a very scenic road with little traffic.
We are both from Michigan and have made the I-30, I-55, I-57 trip so many times to visit family there that we feel we could do it blindfolded. So we choose the OK/MO as mentioned because it was different.
Just some thoughts.....

RE: Food color in carpet

I once worked with a teacher who had brand new white carpet and her daughter spilled something on it (something awful but I can't remember exactly what it was) and she got it out with Incredible . I see that stuff all the time at the grocery store.
I remember that because we laughed about how "incredible" it was that she got it out of her carpet. I think it might have been red lipstick.

RE: Reservations?

There are many National Forest Service campgrounds in Colorado. Some take reservations for sites, some don't and quite a few have sites that are not reservable.
I know just what you mean about not having to make reservations. That is what we used to do. But then we discovered some great sites in some beautiful campgrounds so now we do make reservations.
